Melissa is going on a class trip to Barkerville in a couple of weeks. They all have to dress in period costume so I took the opportunity to make her something. As an added bonus, I do have three girls so they can all wear this outfit when they have their turn.
Aside from purchasing the pattern, I didn't spend anything on the outfit. I've had the fabric on my shelf for quite a few years - it was given to me (do you recognize the fabric, Jennifer?) The apron fabric is from a sheet. Even the lace on the apron was from the sheet.
The pattern is a McCall's Costume pattern M9424. I used the pattern for the dress, but the apron is just my own 'design'. To be honest I just started cutting and ripping and sewing and this is how it turned out. :-)
She is very happy about the outfit and super excited about the trip.
Cute daughter and cute outfit. I like the fabric and the sheet apron is clever!
ReplyDeletethe fabric is so pretty, such a nice blue!!! You did a great job!!
ReplyDeleteLove it!! Glad it all came together and you even have time to spare :p
ReplyDeleteVery nice! It's such a pretty color of blue. Love the apron, too.
ReplyDeleteThat's AWESOME! What a great costume for her and your other girls to use over the years. How far is it to Barkerville? Seems like a long ways in my mind!
ReplyDeleteVery cute! My DD loves to dress up like a pioneer. Her MeMom made her an outfit last year. It is getting a little small so we have to ask her to make another.
ReplyDeletelooks great! J has a matching bonnet :)
ReplyDeleteFun!! We made bonnets and aprons to play "olden days" when we were kids! Used them all the time. Hope she has fun at Barkerville. :)
