Paintbox Quilt-along Quilt

I've made my first blocks for Oh Fransson's Paintbox Quilt-Along. Mine won't be a true Paintbox as my print is the same in every block and I only have about 12 colours. I've made my first 24, 4 pairs of 3 colours so far. Another 75 to go...I hope to make it a twin size for my son.

Pretty bright and wild!

I'm thinking ahead a little, debating whether or not to make more blocks and leave out the sashing or not. I think it may be too busy without anything "calmer" between the blocks but maybe not.

Any thoughts on my conundrum?

  3. Not that I know anything about quilting but... sashing are the strips that you would put in between the blocks right? Then yes, sashing would look great-- I think solid black could be very striking but would it be too dark?! Karen

  4. Yes to sashing! Solid black would be great, I think! :)

  5. I'm thinking sashing too but I am not sure what color would work other than black. Maybe to brighten up all the black, you could make a pillow sham with some of the bright solids that you are using.

  6. I am still pondering this one Suzanne - I think I would use sashing but I would pick something bright. OR put roads in between - all boys love roads!! - a black sashing with coloured dotted lines down the middle!!! weeeeee!! (sorry - you asked the wrong person and I sat here thinking too long!) Have fun with it!
