Pondering possible quilt layouts for my very own bed.
All using the simple HST block. The sky's the limit!

Which one is your favoute?
Any other HST layouts you can point me to? I might add more to this post so I have a 'library' of HST designs.

I'd say that #6 is my favorite.
ReplyDeleteI can't say I have a favorite...maybe #4? My grey/green quilt was made of HSTs :)
ReplyDeleteDefinetly # 6 love the scrappy look of it.
ReplyDeleteMy favourites are #4 and #6.

3,4, or 5. That pretty much narrows it down, huh? :)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely number 6!
ReplyDeleteI can't choose just one. I like 3,5 or 6
ReplyDeleteIt looks like I'm the only one, but I like #1 best :)
ReplyDeleteWell, I'd have to pick #5, then #1, then #6. You said it was for your bed right? I think those would be my picks for a master bed b/c I thought of the centre block standing for 'faith' and everything else holding together b/c of it:) But...that might be a tad too deep for a quilt, no? LOL! :)

I think it completely depends on what your fabric choices are and the look you are going for...do you know the fabrics? If you could share them and say "modern or traditional etc." I will answer :) I do love all HST designs though!
ReplyDeleteI like 5 or 6. I'm making number 2 :)
ReplyDelete5 or 6. They are all nice
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is 5. Then 4 and 2. Your sister's green/gray quilt was beautiful...
ReplyDeleteHave fun deciding!

7 is my favourite :) and I love pinwheels too :)
ReplyDeleteNo matter which one you choose, I'm just amazed at all the different quilts that can be made from the same 1/2 sq triangle blocks!
ReplyDeleteI love/hate HST quilts. I love how they look and the many ways you can change the layouts, but I hate making & trimming HSTs :) I've made 5 HST quilts now...a few that look like 6 & 11 (http://www.flickr.com/photos/michellenolsen/7438484022/in/set-72157631263741342, http://www.flickr.com/photos/michellenolsen/6778616442/in/set-72157631263741342/), a zig zag one like 2 (http://www.flickr.com/photos/michellenolsen/6965474793/in/set-72157631263741342/), and two others that have the same double pinwheel sort of layout, but the sashing changes the look (http://www.flickr.com/photos/michellenolsen/6861102627/in/set-72157631263741342/, http://www.flickr.com/photos/michellenolsen/6861102665/in/set-72157631263741342/).
ReplyDeleteI like 11 but.. um.... are 6 and 11 the same? I like 11 cause it seems slightly less busy so I guess it would depend on the fabric choices.
ReplyDeleteAnd then when you add colour along with light medium and dark the whole thing can become abstract or even suggest shapes, by where the colour winds about -- there are a couple of heart designs and suggestions of a horse, dog, or even a lobster type of shape! So much to Ponder! Enjoy the process!
ReplyDeleteFabulous! it's wonderful to see all the possibilities and such a help for construction. Thanks for sharing. Greetings from Germany
ReplyDeleteLove numbers 6 and 12. Thanks for this great resource!
ReplyDeleteYes, such a inspiration. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI made #6 using black and white prints and plain white. Really pleased with it. In "Quilts for all Seasons" The named it IN THE BLEAK OF NIGHT
ReplyDelete2, 8 and 13
ReplyDeleteI think #1
