It was so much fun I thought I'd try it again. This time I made a slight change by adding a handle on the side. This one was for my s-i-l for her birthday. She loved it. And said she'd have to hang on to it tight to keep it from her girls. I think this bag would work well for a pencil case too.
Would you like to win your own pattern? Just leave a comment on this post and on Monday I'll randomly choose a winner. If you'd like you can leave a comment with ideas of things to make for 10 year old boys.

ReplyDeleteTen year old boys.... wow. Ummm. Thats a danged good question. I would have no idea what to make - maybe a matchbox car carry all?

ReplyDeleteAs for 10 yo boys....mine are only 4 & 6, but I'm trying to get hubby to make these, http://www.sugarbeecrafts.com/2011/05/marshmallow-guns-by-idea-room.html Don't they look fun??? :)
Thanks for sharing!
Your bags are beautiful! How about a freezer paper stencilled tee shirt for the 10 year old boy? Thank you for trying out the pattern for me.
ReplyDeleteHm...10 year old boy. How bout something that can be used to store secret things in his secret hideout. Like a bucket/bag/gathering pouch. Yeah, my oldest is 2. This is a stab in the dark.
ReplyDeleteIt's a cute little bag! BTW, Your sewing room looks great. You got some really great scores with the furniture.
ReplyDelete10 year old boy sewing...clothes: t-shirts, hoodies, long shorts, rashguards non-clothes: that's a bit harder hmm, for my 10 year old I'd probably make a case/bag for his Nintendo DS or a mat/bag for storing legos or a beach towel that folds into a bag (P has one of those that my mom made and he uses it whenever we head to the waterpark/beach)
I like them Alisa! My suggestions are duffel bag, pencil case and covered binder, sunglasses pouch, and covered bulletin or magnet board.
ReplyDeleteI love these bags, and have 4 girls who would love them too! I agree they would make great (and durable) pencil cases
ReplyDeleteI love these bags, they are such cute little clutches.
ReplyDeleteFor a ten year old boy, sorry, I have no clue!
I would love to win the pattern to these bags!
ReplyDeleteMy son is 9, and some things he loves are a place to keep his earned money... think wallet or secret stash bag. Another thing is an organizer to hang off the edge of his loft bed for books and treasures that will keep them out of the reach of his toddler sister!

Hmmm, my boys are 5, 3, and newborn so I don't know what 10 year old boys might like yet...
ReplyDeleteThank you for the chance of a Ruched Happy Bag!
ReplyDeleteI don't know any 10 year old boys, so not really sure what sorts of things they're into... but how about a pin/memo board for his room, a sports bag, softie monster (eg http://craftblog.com.au/2008/10/08/not-so-scary-monsters/ or http://thinkliz.com/2009/02/13/softie-bat-monster-free-pattern/ ) or a swimming bag since it is summer? :-)
Such a cute pattern!
ReplyDeleteWhen my boys were younger (around 10/11 I guess) I made them all a quilt signed by their classmates as they moved on to secondary school!
Cute bags. I'd love to win this pattern.
ReplyDeleteCUTE! I like to make personalized containers for that age. Something that can hold legos, characters, etc.
ReplyDeleteThey look great - well done! 10 yr old boys? I have a boy so although he's not yet 2 I guess I should get thinking. How about a messenger bag in some I suppose 'cool' fabric, not sure what a 10yr old might think is cool though!
ReplyDeleteGiveaway on my blog too - closing tomorrow, pop on over

A real cutie and a sure winner, would love to win this pattern and I could make them for gifts.
ReplyDeleteI"ve been eyeing Amy's pattern all this week! I would love, love, love to win. I have 3 young adult girls who would love mom to make them some. But first - I would make one for me! 10 yr old boys are hard. Mine wanted a big floor pillow so I made him a funky quilting floor pillow.
ReplyDeleteGoodness! This little bag would be perfect for holding all the "randoms" in the bottom of my purse! I would love to win a copy of the pattern!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the nice giveaway chance.. Lovely pouch.. I would love to make one for my self too...
ReplyDeleteSorry because I have no clue what a 10 yrs old boy want.. I have a 12 yrs old cousin who always stick to the computer to play the Facebook online game which I think is not a good way...
cute bags. Sadly, I can't help you with the boys. I have three girls.
ReplyDeleteWow sewing for men and boys can be so hard (unless they happen to be tiny little guys). I would say maybe you could make some activity totes or pouches to hold pencils and markers, legos, or trading cards (that kind of thing). Then you keep his stuff together, portable, and organized (bonus for you!).
ReplyDeleteI make monster balls for little boys. Just use an everyday fabric ball pattern, but add a face, fangs, ears, arms and legs! They are so fun and boys and girls love them!
ReplyDeleteGreat bags! My 10 yr old boy is neglected in the sewing department, too :) I do make him long shorts with cargo pockets that he really likes. A new backpack is another idea. Thank you! mamalusco at ortelco dot net
ReplyDeleteIdeas for a 10 yr old boy... How about a 'panel' of different size pockets that hangs on the back of a door for all the odds & ends that don't have a place. Or a pouch that attaches (with velcro) to his bike between the bars. Maybe a wall pouch with pockets that hangs from the top bunk and hangs right beside his pillow for books and a flashlight for bedtime reading. How come all the ideas I have are related to keeping things organized and in their place :-) ?? Karen K
ReplyDeleteYikes, 10 yr old boys...that's a tricky one!
ReplyDeleteThe boys I know are 4 & 7 and they still love anything I make! I made cute little pink heart shaped purses for my nieces for Valentine's day, the 4 yr old boy cried because he wanted one too!
Maybe a cool pencil case with robots/stripes/whatever he likes for fabric?
These ruched bags are *so* cute!
I love your bag!!! And the way you did the zipper! Love your sister Karen Marie!
