Paint colour suggestions - please!

I would love your input for a paint colour for Sebastian's room.  We weren't going to paint it (it's a light cream right now) and I'm not totally sure we are going too but it could really use a paint job.

So...using his quilt (in post below) as inspiration what colour would you paint the walls?

Thanks!

  1. What about a shade of that light green from the binding? We just painted a room that color and love it! Easy to grow into too.

  2. I'm partial to the blue in the quilt...it is a colour that can go so many directions

    1. I love the blue too but a lighter version - less intense.

  3. i think i would go for a green in the same family as the color in his quilt but not as dark...softer.

    1. I was thinking that too - it really would have to be much lighter as the room is pretty small.

  4. is there brown in the quilt at all. I think I see some but a light brown would be nice and versatile too.

    1. There's a bit of brown in the stripe but not really in the rest of the quilt. Maybe a really light greyish brown would work...

  5. My kids room I have cream on top and green on the bottom with a simple chair rail in the middle. Then you don't need to much paint :)

  6. I would go to the paint store with the quilt. Ask to look at the color stack that has ALL the colors on it with each strip having 4-5 shades on it. Then I'd look for the green in (I think the green is more dominant than the blue and would look better) the color 'wheel' and go a few shades lighter. It should probably bring you to a nice olive green or moss green - whatever you want to call it :-)
Just my opinion. Hopefully the name sounds better than what I just painted in my house... smoked trout and canadian bacon :-)

  8. Since there is a lot of orange in the quilt, and orange and blue are complimentary colors on the color wheel, I would likely go with the blue. I like that shade of blue too, I wouldn't go too light. Just my opinion :)
It's a good shade to grow up with him too...

  9. First time visit to your blog, discovered it on the sidebar of the FV modern quilt guild site. Love the quilt! Tangerine is the colour of the year for 2012, so you have made a great start! As to the wall colour, I would complement the quilt with a soft turquoise or a soft olive, green is known as a relaxing colour and I think that very soft olive would make the room a great place to spend time with the little one.
