I made this set for my Secret Sister from this past year using up scraps from the last quilt I made.
I added her favorite text to one and my favorite on the other. I didn't know you could print on fabric, did you? I just taped a piece of fabric to the center of a sheet of paper and printed (on our laser printer). I tried it out and washed and rubbed it but it didn't bleed or run - pretty neat!
I free-motion quilted one and did straight lines on the other. The backs are both different using up what I had.
And a picture of our 5 month old who's growing up so fast!
Those are truly lovely placemats! I love that you printed scripture on the back. 5 months already...watch out world!
ReplyDeleteThey look really, really good! Did you give them to her already? Did she like them? I'm going to have to try that printing on fabric.
ReplyDeleteAnd Sebastian is looking so big already. Are you sure you don't want to hop on a plane to BC for a few days?
Yes, she liked them (as much as I could tell from her reaction)
DeleteYou know I would love to hop on a plane!!
great placemats. I have an ink jet printer and I can heat set the ink and it will last a while, not a long time, but a good while. or I get the treated fabric sheets ($$) OR I embroider, but I can only embroidery 5" x 5" so limited letters.
ReplyDeleteI thought I would need an inkjet but it worked with my laser. Hopefully it lasts :)
DeleteReally lovely! The scripture is a very nice touch as well. What is that fabric on the back of the one, with the large white circles? I have a bit of that which I received as a scrap from someone else, and I love it.
ReplyDeleteHi Heather - Alisa here. It's by Robert Kaufman and it's called Metro Living Circles (I think, I can't see the entire selvedge on mine.)
DeleteThanks Alisa! I saw you have some of it in Zachary's quilt too :)
DeleteThose are just the kind of greens I want in my quilt! Where could I find them?
ReplyDeleteScripture on placemats - awesome! And 5 months already?! Cutie. :)
ReplyDeleteI like my placemats too. I'm not using them as such yet. One is on the table with a pot of daffs and the other is on the counter by my sink with some birds and other stuff.
