Lately on the way to church we have been seeing so many bald eagles. The kids always count them and once they counted more than 70 eagles! They are amazing birds. Above is a
I just love this photo. This is Mt. Cheam in the background. A typical setting for any number of photos around our area. It was a pretty nice day for February.
And here is a
And one last photo to assure you that I don't actually live on a farm myself. But we do have a mountain as a backdrop. I'm good with that!
Have a great week!
Very nice, and very familiar! We can see Mt. Cheam from my parent's house. :)
ReplyDeleteAmazing to see so many! I remember as kids in Surrey it was really neat to see one on top of that dead tree. Do you remember that?
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful area! It's so unlike where I live...I think where I live is beautiful too but so different--seacoast rather than mountains! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteActually male and female eagles look exactly the same. The males might be a little smaller. The ones without the white heads are babies and it takes awhile for them to get the white heads.
ReplyDeleteI looked it up and you are right! The young ones don't have a white head etc. until after they are 1 year old. There are a lot of young ones then!
DeleteBTW - Who wrote this comment? :-)
Thanks for sharing your beautiful pictures! So amazing to see so many bald eagles this time of year. Last year in the tree by our neighbours there was about 23 or so at one time. This year, they are there again, but I haven't seen more than about 6 at one time.
ReplyDeletevery cool, yes female and male bald eagles are very similar , I believe the one in your picture is a golden eagle. Your neck of the woods is so cool to be around with all the eagles and herons. Ive seen so many neat birds out your way including an albino robin :)
ReplyDeleteI love seeing all these bald eagles and hawks too. It's amazing how many of them can be in the same tree/field at the same time. Love Mt. Cheam too...one day I'm gonna hike to the top! When the snow is gone though!
ReplyDeleteAnd about that 'assure you I don't actually live on a farm' comment...do you smell some of that 'dairy-air' once in a while? :)
Jen, that's an excellent goal. I have hiked to the top once before but that was pre-kids. I did do Elk Mt. though, a few years ago. To be honest, I actually don't love the hiking part, just the view at the top. But it's worth it!
DeleteIn my old place I did smell it sometimes but here not so much. Not that I mind the smell.
Beautiful! I have never seen a bald eagle outside of a zoo! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm not far away and see the eagles often along the Mission Hwy or just south of Sumas, WA there is a congregation there! I am out and about today and will bring my cameras along with me and perhaps capture some bits of Nature...
ReplyDeletethat first eagle looks so amazing....i love seeing them. when we first moved to NY we had a really cold winter...the river near our house was frozen for the most part....but when it broke up you could go down to the river and spot eagles sitting on the flows eating fish they caught in the river. so amazing to see in person
ReplyDeleteFascinating snap shot of your drive home. Thanks for sharing.:)
ReplyDeleteWow! You live in a beautiful place!
ReplyDeleteHi, Alisa: I just found your blog today, and was admiring your bald eagle shots, wishing I had my camera with me last week when I saw so many as well. Imagine my surprise when I saw Mt. Cheam, from the exact same angle I see it on my way home from work!! It's great to visit a fellow local blogger's site - can't wait to read more.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all your comments on our Sunday Drive. It's rather telling that on a craft blog we get more comments on our real life posts than on many of our sewing posts. It means that you are all interested in more than just sewing. Whew! That's great! Thanks for your interest!
