I made this as a gift for friends who just had their 4th boy (they do have one girl sandwiched in the middle too). I used Amanda Jean's tutorial but made it a bit shorter and the sashing a little narrower. I love how it turned out!
Lots of scraps used in this one :) I had a bunch of extra rectangles that I added to the binding for fun too.
I quilted it with a loose all-over meander which looks okay but in hindsight I think straight lines would have looked better...
I'm linking up with amylouwho's Sew & Tell. Go on and check out all the wonderful craftiness!
Suzanne, I love this quilt! Love the colours and the simple coin pattern, which I've seen before. I was thinking of this kind of pattern yesterday, trying to figure out if it would work for my first little quilt. I just came home from picking up my sewing machine! - Linnet
ReplyDeleteIt looks really, really good Suzanne! They are going to love it.

ReplyDeleteThe colors you used are perfect. The coin quilts is one of my favorite because it comes together so quickly with a big impact. Just like yours is.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great quilt!
ReplyDeleteAnd you still have snow?! Wow. Bless your hearts.
I love that you're sisters, and that you have lots of children. I have five, and I love to do lots of the same things that you mentioned in your bio.
How wonderfully you're honoring the Lord and your husbands by being joyful, productive, and frugal -- and encouraging one another along the way!
It looks beautiful! All these babies are sure keeping you busy! (and they aren't even your own;)
ReplyDeleteI love the little extra scraps in the binding! Nice touch.
ReplyDeleteThat is a one pretty quilt! Love the blues and tans together. Your friends will be thrilled.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great quilt for a boy! I love the color combination. Is it a particular line? The backing looks good too!
ReplyDeleteI always love this simple patterned quilt. Easy and effective, don't you think?
ReplyDeleteThe extra blocks on the back is a great addition.
Love brown and blue together. Love the quilting too!!

That turned out so cute! I love the simplicity of coin quilts!
ReplyDeleteI love your quilt - the colors are gorgeous and the little scraps in the binding are the perfect touch! I can't wait to try that on a quilt. Thanks for the idea!
ReplyDeleteOooh, I love how it came out too! You inspire me to finish the stacked coin quilt I started a few weeks ago.
ReplyDeleteSo cute! Makes me want another boy. Okay, maybe in like 2 years when C is out of diapers :) I have had such a hard time finding "boy" fabrics here. I'm a long way from quilting but I've made the kids a few shirts and B's are so hard since everything seems to have flowers! M liked an entire aisle of flowers and butterflies. :)
ReplyDeleteA perfect boys quilt and great use of scraps in the binding! Love this pattern.
ReplyDeleteI love it when the scraps all come together for something so nice! Nice work.
